New York State troopers were dispatched to Arlington Court on Tuesday, Sept. 19, where there were reports of a domestic dispute between two people involving a knife.

Upon arrival, troopers reported that both parties were intoxicated and had already suffered minor wounds. An investigation into the domestic incident determined that 45-year-old Cortlandt resident Douglas Hovasapian had menaced his victim using both a screwdriver and a knife as a threat.

Hovasapian was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of menacing with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon. Following arraignment, Hovasapian was released on his own recognizance and is due back in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court to answer the charges on Thursday.
