New York State Police troopers doled out dozens of tickets on Tuesday during a distracted driving detail on I-684 in Westchester.
During the six-hour detail, troopers issued 10 tickets for speeding, three for seatbelt violations, 11 for drivers using their cell phones, 23 for failure to abide by the “move-over law” and eight for other vehicle and traffic offenses.
In total, 55 tickets were dished out to drivers during the detail. Last week, during a speed enforcement detail, state police issued a total of 68 tickets on the same stretch of roadway on I-684.
According to police, these details will continue throughout the summer months as troopers make an effort to curtail dangerous driving and keep highways safe for motorists.
“The highway safety initiative perpetuates the mission of the State Police to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage caused by motor vehicle accidents through vehicle and traffic enforcement,”
