MILLWOOD, N.Y. - A Level 3 sex offender has moved into Millwood, according to the New Castle Police Department.
Jacob Damask, 28, now lives on 24 Gregor Lane. He is serving five years probation after spending 48 months in state prison for possession of child pornography on his computer, a felony charge, according to the New York State Criminal Justice website.
Those convicted of possessing child pornography usually face prison sentences of five-to-20 years, which are often reduced to probation for first-time offenders.
A 2012 U.S. Sentencing Commission report showed the average sentence in 2010 was 95 months, up from 54 months in 2004, for federal child pornography cases that don't involve production.
The Chappaqua Central School District, which was notified by New Castle Police Chief Charles Ferry under Megan's Law, notified parents Wednesday of Damask's residence change.
"Please take the time to speak with your children about contact with strangers and safety measures, and encourage them to speak with you about situations that make them feel uncomfortable," School Superintendent Lyn McKay wrote on the school website. "The school guidance counselors and teachers continue to work with children on appropriate strategies to protect themselves in situations that are potentially dangerous."
Damask is white, 5-foot 9-inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, has gray eyes and is bald. He drives a black 2002 Acura TL.
The use of this information to injure, harass or commit a criminal act against Damask, or any person, may be subject to criminal prosecution.
