Evans was responsible for 36 of the department’s 62 driving while intoxicated arrests in 2012.
“Officer Evans’ dedication to traffic enforcement has a significant effect on traffic safety in our community and he should be recognized for his life-saving efforts," Police Chief William Hayes said in a statement. "I am proud to have him as part of my team and look forward to his continued success.”
