The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team joined about 12 area fire departments at 109 Stone Bridge Lane, where a three-story house went up in flames, fire officials said.

The Bedford tax roll lists the full-market value of the 28.98-acre property as $2.66 million.

Officials said the conflagration may have started in the 7,500-square-foot home's three-car garage. A third of the home was fully engulfed when the first fire crews arrived at 6:33 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

On New Year's Day last week, seven fire departments responded to another large fire on nearby Hook Road in Katonah. In this case as well, the cause of the fire is still unknown, said Bedford Assistant Fire Chief Peter Lazaro.

About 75 firefighters from Ossining, Yorktown, Katonah, Somers, South Salem, Croton Falls and Mount Kisco, among other departments, responded to the fire on Stone Bridge Lane Tuesday evening.

None of the residents of the home was present when the blaze began, Bueti said Tuesday. After first sending a crew inside for an interior attack, the firefighters then approached from the home's exterior as the flames climbed higher. Firefighters had knocked out most of the fire shortly after 9 p.m., officials said.
