Car Crash On I-684 Leaves Three Injured, One Critically

BEDFORD, N.Y. — Three people were hospitalized Sunday, with one of them in critical condition, after a one-car accident on I-684 south in Bedford, according to the New York State Police in Somers.

Celia C. Rodriguez, 39, of Danbury, Conn. was driving a maroon Jeep in the left lane at approximately 11:13 a.m. when she lost control of the car, which turned on its side and struck a tree, police said.

The other two occupants of the car were a 15-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy, also from Danbury, police said. 

Rodriguez is now in critical condition having suffered head trauma and chest injuries, according to police, which required her to be transported to Westchester Medical Center by helicopter. 

Police said the two boys were transported to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah/Bedford Hills EMS. Information regarding the nature and severity of their injuries has not been released. 

The state police will continue their investigation into the cause of the accident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the station at (914) 277-3651.
