Bedford Police Will Inspect Child Car Seats For Proper Installation

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Making sure your child's car seat is installed correctly can save their life. That's why the Bedford Police Department will hold a car seat installation and familiarization event Wednesday.

Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent, but 73 percent of car seats are not used or installed correctly, police said.

The department holds the events several times a year at Mount Kisco Honda, 650 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, from 4-7 p.m.
