BEDFORD, N.Y. – Bedford Police Chief William Hayes has announced that Officers Jonathan Evans and Richard O’Connell were selected by the Westchester County Office of Drug Abuse Prevention & STOP-DWI for the “Top Cop” award for their efforts in reducing drunk and drugged driving during 2012.

“Every occasion in which an officer arrests and removes an intoxicated driver from the road translates into lives saved," said Hayes.

"These officers are community heroes working hard to save innocent lives and I’m proud of them. Protecting motorists as they drive on the Town’s roadways is a top priority for the department," he said.

Evans and O’Connell will be presented with their awards at the STOP-DWI New York Mid-Hudson Region Enforcement / Prosecution Conference in Newburgh, N.Y. on April 11.
