Robert D. Yoxtheimer was stopped on Bedford Road in Katonah about 5:15 p.m. when an officer observed him fail to yield to a pedestrian on the crosswalk near Woodbridge Road, police said.
Upon questioning, the officer saw that Yoxtheimer’s license had been suspended in New York on failure to appear for a court summons, police said. The officer then noticed marijuana residue in the front door pocket, which Yoxtheimer and his passenger said they knew nothing about, according to police.
The officer then looked under the car seat and found a straw with white residue and four packets containing a substance that Yoxtheimer admitted was heroin, police said.
Yoxtheimer was charged with two misdemeanors: seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was also charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a violation.
Yoxtheimer was released on his own recognizance and will return to the Town of Bedford Court on Dec. 20.

Alleged Shoplifter At Kohl's: A woman from Somers was caught shoplifting Sunday by Kohl’s security guards at the Bedford Hills store, Bedford police said. At about 11:10 a.m., security guards observed Hannah Lang, 21, try to walk out of the store with an $80 bracelet hidden in her hand, police said. Lang was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. She was released on $80 bail and will return to the Town of Bedford Court on Dec. 27.
Alleged DWI Driver Drives 75 Feet On Sidewalk: A 57-year-old man from Mount Kisco was charged with driving while intoxicated after police said they received a report of an erratic driver in Bedford Hills on Sunday.
At 5:03 p.m., officers spotted a Toyota pickup driven by Jose J. Melchor go across the lines in the road in front of the Hess station on Bedford Road, police said. When officers stopped him, he tried to pull over but kept driving, traveling about 75 feet on the sidewalk, police said.
Melchor had glassy eyes and slurred speech, according to police, and admitted to having two or three drinks. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer, police said.
Melchor was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and two traffic infractions: unlawfully driving on or across the sidewalk and driving across hazard markings. He was released on $250 bail and will return to Town of Bedford Court on Dec. 20.
