Bedford Police Department Honors Officers, Detectives

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Bedford Police Department has named officer Richard O'Connell as the officer of the year.

The Bedford Police Department held its annual award presentation on May 14 at the Bedford Town House. The department recognized more than a dozen officers in the community.

The following officers were recognized for their performance and achievements in 2013, according to a press release:

Police Officer of the Year: Richard O'Connell
Traffic Safety Enforcement Award: Police Officer Richard O'Connell and Police Officer Jonathan Evans (honorable mention).
Lifesaving Award: Police Officers Jonathan Evans, Douglas Romeo, Eric Lefevre, Gregory Phillips and Dion Roman.
Unit Citation: Police Officer Anthony Russo, Police Officer Santo Curro, Detective Joseph Comunale, Detective Michael Roche, Detective Larry Haynes.
Excellent Police Duty: Police Officer James Fiori.
Certificate of Commendation: Police Officer Linda Gabrielsen.
