Bedford Cops: Dogwalker A Suspect In Jewelry Theft

BEDFORD, N.Y. — A dogwalker hired to stay in a Bedford Hills couple's home while they were away is a suspect in the theft of jewelry worth $40,000 from the residence, Bedford Police say.

The McClain Street residents told police Monday they believed the items were stolen some time between Aug. 18 and Sept. 1, police said.

Sonia Beatriz Cabrera-Cardone, 41, of Pound Ridge, was charged with driving while intoxicated when police pulled her over on Sunday, Sept. 2, according to Bedford Police. An officer stopped Cabrera-Cardone on Old Post Road in Bedford at 3:26 a.m. after he saw her cross over the solid yellow lines multiple times, police said. She failed field sobriety tests and her blood alcohol level tested at 0.15 percent, according to police. Cabrera-Cardone was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over .08 percent, both misdemeanors. She was also charged with passing in a no passing zone, an infraction. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Bedford Town Court on Sept. 13.
