The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the unidentified 64-year-old man tried to stop another person from dumping garbage in a dumpster without permission near La Familia Restaurant at 69 Westchester Ave., Ryan said.

The two got into an argument and began shouting at each other before the man dumping the garbage, got back into his vehicle and drove into the man, breaking bones and causing abrasions, Ryan said.

The driver then fled the area, he added.

Police have since identified the hit-and-run driver and are interviewing witnesses and the driver, Ryan said.

Once the investigation is complete, Ryan said he will forward the case to the District Attorney's Office for charges.

The injured man received very serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital.
