To the Editor:

Sean Patrick Maloney, the Democratic challenger for Congress, is the best choice for women voters this election year. He will represent the interests of women in the Hudson Valley.

Even though Nan is a doctor and a woman, her voting record doesn’t indicate she take’s women’s health seriously. Sean is a strong supporter of a woman's right to choose and unlike Congresswoman Hayworth, Sean supports funding for access to contraception. Locally, 12 health centers provide care to over 35,000 patients each year. Eliminating funding to Planned Parenthood means over 31,000 patients will lose access to care such as cervical cancer screenings, affordable birth control and HIV testing.

In addition, Sean supports the Affordable Care Act, which prohibits insurance companies from charging women higher premiums. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, who has taken thousands of dollars from insurers, supports repealing the Affordable Care Act.

Sean Patrick Maloney supports equality in the workplace and supports the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would bar companies from retaliating against workers who inquire about pay disparities and allow employees to sue for punitive damages in cases of paycheck discrimination.

Fortunately, the women of the Hudson Valley do have a real champion on the ballot this November: Sean Patrick Maloney. Sean is a strong supporter of a woman's right to choose. On November 6, vote for Sean Maloney.

Sincerely,

Bea Rhodes

The TRUTH:

Is there a candidate who is the best choice for men voters? Is there a candidate who is the best choice for black voters? Is there a candidate who is the best choice for gay voters? Is there a candidate who is the best choice for Catholic voters? There is a candidate who is best choice for all voters:
NAN HAYWORTH.

SheppardAllen:

Whats really at stake here? Congresswoman Nan Hayworth is willing to support taking away medical coverage for seniors and Americans of my generation. She has done so by voting countless times to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Instead of working on bringing jobs back to the United States she has voted to continue to give tax breaks to companies that ship American jobs overseas. Most importantly instead of thinking for herself and for whats best for the Hudson valley she has continually nodded her head along with the Republican Leadership not even considering what the effects may be for her constituents at home. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth may as well not live in this district because she doesn't represent the Hudson Valley at all!

Shoshanna:

Hey ilovesomers - Sean Patrick Maloney clearly has a connection to the Hudson Valley. He lives in Cold Spring, he speaks to all constituents and he has worked in NY for many issues. Unlike Nan who closes and locks the doors of her office when constituents wish to speak to her. Also - Nan refuses to debate side by side with Sean - which will show the clear distinction between a man, Sean who will represent the whole district while Nan, who will represent the interests of corporations and then in the same breath will say sorry women I hope you understand that I voted against fair pay act for women.

NickSacco76:

Maloney has owned a home in this region for 16 years.

The real question is: why are the insurance companies dumping money into Hayworthless' campaign? Because they will make a killing off of seniors when Hayworthless & Co. pass Paul Ryan's Tea Party Budget and privatize Medicare.

ilovesomers:

Maloney is a carpetbagger from NYC. He has no connection to the Hudson Valley and is being suported by Soros because he could'nt raise any funds on his own. As far as the Affordable Care Act, it should be repealed as it will cost consumers more and force the closing of hospitals. It will limit senior citizens in the care they need by reducing the already low reinbursments to hospitals and doctors by taking from Medicare to pay for Obamacare.
