Thomas Joseph Patrick Martin, 71, Of Katonah, Litigator

KATONAH, N.Y. - Thomas Joseph Patrick Martin of Katonah died Sunday, Sept. 28. He was 71.

Martin was born Nov. 29, 1942, in Brooklyn, to Matthew and Grace (Cosgrove) Martin, and attended St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy, N.J. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. John's University. As a litigator for Kelley Drye & Warren, he had represented NY Archdiocesan Catholic hospitals. He then served for more than 23 years as vice president and general counsel of New York Medical College. He retired in 2008.

He was involved in parish activities at St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen, N.J., and later at St. Mary of the Assumption in Katonah.

Martin is survived by his wife, Carol (née Goy); children, Jennifer (Tim), Christopher (Kerry), Matthew, and Sean (Katie); and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Matthew and Richard.

Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at St. Mary's Church in Katonah. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
