Nelligan was born Nov. 29, 1927, in the Bronx, to Philip and Frieda Finger Arms. She graduated valedictorian and president of her class at Walton High School. She was trained as a legal secretary and worked in the practice of Albert V. Marchigiani. Upon his election as supervisor of the Town of Bedford, she moved to serve as his administrative assistant for the township. She continued to serve as administrative assistant to seven Town of Bedford supervisors in a career spanning over 27 years until her retirement. She was a founding member and trustee of the Bedford Hills Historical Society, and a docent at the museum. She was also a member of the Bedford Hills Women's Club.
Nelligan is survived by her sister, Frieda Thompson; children, Kathy, Kim, Karen (John), William (Ann) and Kelly (Stuart); and 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, both named Philip; and son-in law, Frank.
Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 15 S. Bedford Road and E. Main St., Mt. Kisco. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nelligan’s name to the Bedford Hills Historical Museum.
