John R. Citro, 82, Of Bedford, Fox Lane Middle School Substitute Teacher

BEDFORD, N.Y. - John R. Citro, a longtime Bedford resident, died March 14. He was 82.

Citro was born Sept. 18, 1925, in New York City to Frank and Guiseppina (Grimaldi) Citro.

In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from New York University in 1955 with a BS degree. After working for the New York Telephone Company for 40 years, he took up a job as a substitute teacher at the Fox Lane Middle School

Citro is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Frusciante), of Bedford; sons, Michael Citro (Laura Blau) of Bedford and Thomas Citro of New York City; daughters, Dorothy Citro Speidell (Peter) of Katonah, N.Y., and Marianne Citro Flayhan (Chad) of Waccabuc, N.Y.; sister, Diane Citro of Deer Park, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Conrad Citro of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; son, John R. Citro, Jr.; brothers Frank, Joseph, Carmine and Louis Citro.


Calling hours are  Sunday, March 17, at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, N.Y. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford. Interment will be immediately following Mass at St. Francis Cemetery, Mount Kisco, NY.
