Irene McMahon, 85, Bedford Real Estate Agent

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Irene Connelly McMahon, a longtime resident of Bedford, died Dec. 17 from respiratory complications at Somers Manor. She was 85.

The daughter of Alice and Joseph Connelly, McMahon was born and raised in the Inwood section of Manhattan. She graduated an honor student from Cathedral High School in Manhattan.

McMahon earned a bachelor's degree in education from Fordham University in 1949. She served as co-chair for her 10th and 15th class reunions. After graduation, she was employed as buyer for children's clothing by the Federation of Department Stores. She remained with the company until retiring in 1958.

She married Raymond J. McMahon in 1955 and lived in Bronxville until their move to Bedford in the 1960s. McMahon worked as a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Bedford for many years. She also volunteered at the Katonah Community Center and Cancer Care.

McMahon is survived by a daughter, Jean Marie McMahon, of Bedford, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and a brother, Joseph Connelly.

A memorial Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in Bedford. Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
