George Genovesi, 87, Of Bedford Hills, World War II Veteran, Auto Mechanic

BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y. – George Genovesi, 87, of Bedford Hills, died Saturday, May 2.

He was a son of Amato and Maria Genovesi of Bedford Hills.

Genovesi served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was also a member of the Bedford Village Fire Department for 60 years.

He worked many years as an auto mechanic at Potter Buick in Mount Kisco, then for Bedford Exxon and Bedford Shell.

He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Church, where he volunteered at the church carnival's food booth and served as an usher for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Retter Genovesi of Bedford Hills; and one sister, Sue Panetta of Dover, N.J..

Three sisters, Jennie Cutri, Eleanor Burger, and Ann Paganelli; and one brother, Joe Genovesi, preceded him in death.

Calling hours are 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, at the Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, at St. Patrick’s Church, 7 Pound Ridge Road, Bedford.

Interment will be in the St. Francis Cemetery, 236 Lexington Ave., Mount Kisco.
