"The war on heroin is real," Murphy said in a statement. "I have heard countless stories of the young lives lost to this epidemic and many more of how heroin has ruined promising futures. As a father of three young children, my top priority has always been creating a safe community to raise a family. By training our first responders in Narcan administration, we as a community take a bold step toward ensuring the safety of our kids."
With approval, Yorktown will be sending participants to an upcoming training seminar hosted by state Sen. Greg Ball on Thursday, April 24.
The training, which will take place immediately following a roundtable discussion on the heroin epidemic, will be in partnership with the Harm Reduction Coalition.
Certified participants will be given a resuscitation kit that includes Narcan.
Those who would like to participate in the Narcan training and receive a free resuscitation kit that includes Narcan must RSVP to Ball's office by calling 845-279-3773 or email kgobins@nysenate.gov.
