Update: Water Main Break Restored After Closing Rd

BEDFORD, N.Y--A water main break occurred near Bedford Hills Memorial Park early Wednesday morning, and was reported to be fixed at around 11:00 AM Wednesday.

According to Bedford Department of Public Works Commissioner Kevin Winn, the water main break occured close to 2:00 AM on Haines Road in Bedford Hills near the Bedford Hills Memorial Park. Because of the cold weather conditions, the escaped water turned to ice. That fact, along with construction, caused the road to be closed until the main was fixed at 11:00 AM, Winn said.

At 5:20 AM, Sgt. Matthew Dunn of Bedford Police wrote in the town's Nixle account that the break "occurred on Haines Road in the area of the Bedford Hills Memorial Park...Residences near the park including 100 Haines Road apartments and the Lake Marie condos will be without water until the main is fixed."

According to Sgt. David Novick, the police initially hoped the road would be opened between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
