Unbeaten Yorktown Football Team Tackles John Jay Friday

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The undefeated Yorktown High School football team faces a stiff test in its regular-season finale Friday, Oct. 17, against John Jay.

Yorktown (6-0) could lock up a top seed for the Section 1 playoffs with a win over John Jay (4-2). The Indians have won five of the last six meetings between the teams, according to records by MaxPreps, including a 37-20 victory last year.

Yorktown has rolled through its first six opponents, averaging 34 points per game. The Huskers are coming off a 42-14 win over Tappan Zee. Running back Nick Santavicca rushed for 186 yards and one touchdown, while quarterback Ryan Baker rushed for two scores and threw one touchdown pass.

Santavicca, a junior, has been the featured back for the Huskers. He has rushed for 1,106 yards and seven touchdowns on the season, including a 328-yard game in a 32-21 win over Horace Greely on Oct. 2.

Baker, a senior, has thrown for four touchdowns and rushed for six more. Senior running back Tim Forbes has scored seven touchdowns and rushed for 294 yards. He averages 8.4 yards per rush.

John Jay is coming off a 27-14 loss to Fordham Prep. The Indians also lost a hard-fought game to Somers, 26-21. Somers and Fordham Prep are both highly regarded teams and have a combined two losses between them.
