TV Show Eyes Possible Convicted Killer Link To Westchester's Spierer Case

"Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen," a new TV show, is exploring the possible link between a convicted killer and the disappearance of Edgemont resident Lauren Spierer while she was a student at Indiana University.

Spierer went missing at about 4:30 a.m. at an intersection near a nightclub in Bloomington she had visited on June 3, 2011 at age 20.

Daniel Messel, already serving an 80-year sentence in the 2015 murder of Indiana senior Hannah Wilson in 2015, was charged with attempting to sexually assault an Indiana University student in 2012 late last month.

"Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen," a syndicated show, airs in the area weekdays at 1p.m. on WPIX, which is affiliated with the CW Television Network.

The episode spotlight the Spierer case premiered this past Friday. You can watch part of the segment above.

Hansen, 57, is most known for his work on "Dateline NBC," in particular the former segment "To Catch a Predator."
