A group of local residents, putting together a food co-op in Northern Westchester, will hold an organizational meeting Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Katonah First Presbyterian Church.

Residents interested in taking part in the co-op will learn about the group's mission, its plans to move forward, become an inaugural member if desired, and can join a board or committee.

Refreshments and free babysitting will be provided.

A food co-op is a fully functioning grocery store that is member-owned. Members will pay annual dues and will be entitled to reduced prices on products as well as input in business decisions. Non-members are welcome to shop at the co-op.

The event take place at 2 p.m. at the church, at 31 Bedford Road, Katonah. For information, email, newfoodcoop@gmail.com. Visitors are asked to bring a canned good for donation to the Community Center of Northern Westchester.
