Nicolai is hoping someone found Patches, her 18-year-old white and black long-haired chihuahua. Patches wast last seen on Loder Street.

Patches likes to play with her neighbor's two dogs and Nicolai let him out on Tuesday, Nov. 11. After a while, Nicolai went to look for Patches and could not find him.

She reported him missing to police and they found out someone had seen Patches running on Evergreen Street and picked him up. The person mistakenly let Patches outside and he ran away again.

"That's the last we heard of him," Nicolai said. "He's really cute. Someone might have snatched him up."

Nicolai has been in contact with Yorktown Police, the SPCA and the Facebook group, Lost Dogs of Hudson Valley.

"He is a little skittish, but he's crazy about me," Nicolai said. "I'm his everything to him. We got him when he was five years old and we've had him for 13 years."

Patches treats Nicolai way better than he treats her two sons, she said.

"He totally ignores my sons to be with me," Nicolai said. "He's a one person dog. If I leave the room, he leaves the room to be with me."

Nicolai said if Patches is returned to her, she would be "the happiest woman on the face of the earth."

"I adore this little guy," Nicolai said. "I will be eternally grateful. He is adorable."

Patches can occasionally be a jealous dog who wants attention. Nicolai once had a dog that was diabetic and when she would give it insulin, Patches would bark like crazy, jealous that he wasn't getting attention.

"I made believe like I was giving him a shot," Nicolai said. "He was wagging his tail and was happy as a clam. He never barked again."
