In January, Neubauer was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery for a double mastectomy. While recovering in the hospital and without her knowing, Saw Mill Club's swim team and families were busy taking donations for food and caregiving in her honor.

The love for Neubauer did not stop there. The swim team wanted to make a statement so they had their original swim camp redone in gray and pink with the breast cancer ribbon in the middle.

At the time of the change, the team was entering its championship season and every swimmer wore the cap, and many photographs were taken by families.

"The caps and the pictures were brought to me in the hospital which made my recovery so much more meaningful," said Neubauer.

She also received a scrapbook of all the photos and it included notes and artwork that each swimmer contributed.

"It was an amazing display of love and one that I will never forget," said Neubauer.  "For 18 years, I've coached these kids and have known these families, but I have to say that during this difficult time they have given me more moral support and love than I could have ever imagine, and I'm filled with so much gratitude."

From the surgery, Neubauer learned all of her nodes were clear, and she is scheduled for another surgery in the upcoming months.
