KATONAH, N.Y. - Getting to the John Jay High School graduation held at the Caramoor Venetian Theater in Katonah was no easy task for the friends and families of the graduating seniors. A line of cars snaked along the road leading to the entrance of the venue and continue out onto Girdle Ridge Road, causing the ceremony to be slightly delayed.
Once inside the gates of Caramoor cars were directed to several areas for parking, many a good distance away from the tent where the graduation ceremony was to take place. An official announced to the crowd that the ceremony would start late because people were still arriving and trying to park. The delay was blamed on heavy rains that had flooded some parking areas.
But spirits remained high as attendees made their way to the tent. Even a slight drizzle couldn't dampen the mood amongst excited family members.
Sondra Gold was all smiles as she prepared to watch her grandson, Jacob Bresslin, receive his diploma.
“It’s wonderful, he’s the youngest of three and is just a wonderful young man,” Gold said. “He’s always been a joy.”
According to Gold, Bresslin will be attending Penn State next fall to continue his education. She said she was excited to watch him grown throughout the coming years.
“He’s got a great future ahead of him,” Gold said.
Despite the short delay, the ceremony began only a few minutes late.
