Mary Kennedy's Family Holds NYC Memorial

NEW YORK, N.Y. ? Continuing the rancorous aftermath of Mary Richardson Kennedy's apparent suicide, the family and friends of the estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will hold their own memorial Monday night, and reportedly RFK Jr. is not invited.

According to the New York Post, only one of Richardson's six siblings attended Saturday's funeral at St. Patrick's Church in Bedford, which was organized by RFK Jr.

The report quotes family and friends who say Monday night's memorial is closed to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. The separate memorial will be held at downtown Manhattan's Standard Hotel, which is owned by Mary Kennedy’s friend Andre Balazs. Balazs spoke at Saturday's funeral.

Mary Kennedy, 52, was found dead Wednesday afternoon at her home at 326 S. Bedford Road. According to the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office, she died by asphyxiation caused by hanging.

The fighting between the families has been compounded by the Richardson's taking court action against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over the rights to handle Mary's body, according to papers filed Thursday.

Kennedy was awarded custody of the remains and Mary Kennedy was buried after Saturday's funeral at a cemetery in Hyannis Port, Mass., the site of the famed Kennedy compound.
