BEDFORD, N.Y.--The State Police charged Derrick W. Ruprecht, 40, of Yorktown Heights, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated on Sunday after they stopped his car in Bedford. Ruprecht was pulled over by police on Route 35 for failing to dim his highbeam headlights for oncoming traffic, police said. On investigation, officers found that Ruprecht had an open container of alcohol in his car and appeared to be in a state of intoxication, police said. According to police, Ruprecht was also discovered to be in possession of cocaine. Police said Ruprecht refused to submit to a chemical test. Ruprecht is scheduled to return to the Town of Bedford Court on May 31.
