KATONAH, N.Y. Valentines Day is here, and those still searching for gifts or ideas for their loved one might be satisfied by taking a walk down Katonah Avenue in Bedford.
Katonah, a known shopping hot spot in northern Westchester, has a few stores that could appeal to last-minute shoppers. Kelloggs and Lawrence, a store that has been in Katonah for over a century, has many different gift options for a significant other, despite its reputation as hardware store.
We still have a fun collection of gifts. You can always find something for the men and women who have everything, said manager Amy Via. You can usually find something that would be fun, either in camping or accessories.
According to Via, any shopper can update a loved ones winter wear, since its a fashion that is ever-changing.
A lot of us always have winter coats and outerwear weve worn out that looks shabby, and its always nice to get something new that you feel good in, Via said. Also, the technology in a lot of our brands really changed significantly over the last year or so in all of our coats and outerwear.
Stegers Paper Mill is a popular location this time of year, according to saleswoman Terry Schmall. The store was flooded on Monday, and she expects the outpouring of people to continue on Valentines Day.
Cards, cards and more cards. Some jewelry items are being bought by young kids. We have some candy left, and we have Valentines balloons. We still have cards left, and other gift items for men and women, Schmall said. We have a lot of male gifts, where we used to not have them in the past. Wallets, pen sets, those sorts of things.
But one trend of the holiday that has been consistent is the gender of the shoppers.
We see a lot more men on this holiday than all of the others, theyre all buying their cards for the wives and girlfriends, Schmall said.
