Katonah Supporters Dance It Out At Hillary Pantsuit Flashmob

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The weather was perfect -- a sunny 64 degrees -- and the mood was confident at Chappaqua Station where husband and wife Owners Erin and Peter Chase held a series of Election Day community-oriented events.

There were kids activities, discounted food and drink and -- the highlight of the day -- a Hillary Pantsuit Flash Mob, held in front of the restaurant/train station, on the expansive green.

If anyone was unclear about who folks were supporting it was obvious in the Clinton/Kaine signs, the "Making History" buttons the crowd wore and the large number of women, particularly mothers --and grandmothers -- with their kids and grandkids in tow -- that turned out for giant dance party organized by Katonah Mom Maria Colarco, a former choreographer, and Dawn Greenberg, founder of the grassroots organization, Chappaqua Friends of Hillary.

Approximately 60 women of all ages -- and from all over Westchester and lower Connecticut -- were in attendance (in requisite pantsuits) dancing to the music of Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling."(Colarco said they had rehearsed three times at Scattered Books in Chappaqua.)

The performance -- a series of moves that had the group waving hands in the air, shimmying and shaking and even kids doing cartwheels  -- ended with chants of "Hillary, Hillary!" and lots of fist-bumps.

Katonah resident Sara Weale, wearing a "Nasty Woman" T-shirt designed by Bedford Dad Dan Stoller, was among those participating in the dance. "There are so many reasons I'm here today" she said.

Weale, who grew up in Chappaqua was wearing her great-great-grandmother's buckle as a pin and her 11-year-old daughter's shoes as a way to pay tribute to the woman empowerment message of the day.

"My great-great -grandmother was a suffragette who worked alongside Jane Addams," she said. "It's an emotional day. It's a historic day."

She, like others, said Clinton was the most confident candidate... who just happens to be a woman.

And happens to call Chappaqua home.

Flashmob Dancer Susan Berger of Pleasantville, who brought her grandchildren with her, was wearing a smile as large as her Hillary pin. "I'm happy," she said as to why she wanted to participate in the flashmob performance. "I know Hillary will make this country great. Not great again. Because it's already great."

Added Dulce Arnold of Cortlandt Manor, an ardent Hillary supporter who came to watch the show: "After the stress of this campaign, it's a thrill to be able to celebrate this election at these Chappaqua festivities."

Earlier in the day Tuesday, Hillary Clinton cast her vote in this year's historic election with her husband, Bill, at Douglas G. Grafflin Elementary School in Chappaqua. For more, including photos and video, click here.
