Inmates Say Prison Culture Contributes To Rampant Sexual Abuse

An apathetic prison culture has allowed the rampant sexual abuse of female inmates to go unchecked, a lawsuit bought by six women alleges, according to a report by lohud.com.

The plaintiffs, all of whom say they were sexually abused, are incarcerated at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison, and the Taconic Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison, both in Westchester’s Bedford Hills, as well as the Albion Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison in western New York, lohud.com reported.

Among those named in the suit are the Department of Corrections’ acting chief, Anthony Annucci, and other top officials, the lohud.com story said.
