Utility companies were monitoring the forecast as the National Weather Service said the storm could produce more downed trees and power lines and cause additional power outages.
Nearly 1,500 Con Edison and New York State Energy and Gas customers remained without power in Bedford on Wednesday, more than a week after Hurricane Sandy pummeled the area.
Con Ed officials said crews were working around the clock to restore power, and according to Bedford police, NYSEG has at least 58 crews dedicated to the town.
Wednesday's nor'easter will bring rain, snow and sleet after 3 p.m., with wind gusts of up to 46 mph. A high wind advisory has been posted for Westchester County through 4 a.m. Thursday.
The Bedford Central School District schools canceled all after-school activities Wednesday and advised of a possible snow day and or two-hour delayed start on Thursday. School officials advised residents to check out their Twitter @bcsdnotes or like BCSDNY on Facebook for more storm information.
Wednesday night's Bedford Town Board meeting has been canceled and rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 20.
On Thursday, the storm will continue with rain and snow falling before 10 a.m., with a chance of rain later in the day and wind gusts of up to 47 mph lasting through the evening.
As Bedford continues its State of Emergency, police reminded residents to limit road travel to emergencies only.
Dry ice and bottled water are available in front of the Town House, police said, and day warming shelters and charging stations continue to be available at the libraries and fire houses in Bedford, Bedford Hills and Katonah. The Readers Digest (Chappaqua Crossings) is now open as an overnight emergency shelter, police said.
