The celebration, which comes 66 years after the song "Frosty the Snowman" was written, is in honor of Frosty's local ties.

Steve Nelson, the songwriter who helped bring Frosty to life, a longtime resident of Armonk, was inspired by the town when he wrote about a village square in the song, according to an historical write up at Armonkfrosty.com, a site that chronicles the lovable snowman.

The fun-filled day included children activities, rides and entertainment. Some of the day's favorites included the miniature trains and horse-drawn wagons, along with dancers, singers, marching bands, magicians, clowns, Santa and of course, Frosty.

Shops and merchants offered face-painting, frosting cookies, decorating holiday ornaments, and making little Frosty the Snowman's to carry in the parade.

The day ended with more than 30 local organizations taking part in the highlight of the event, the annual Frosty parade down Main Street and a holiday decorations lighting in Wampus Brook Park.
