Kathy Storfer is the Library Programmer at the Bedford Hills Free Library.
How long have you lived in the community and worked at the library.
Ive lived here 22 or 23 years. Ive worked in the library for 18 years. I first started off as a volunteer and I was a storyteller for a longtime. I was able to join the staff eight years ago.
What do you love most about the community?
The people here are really warm and down to earth. There is also a wonderful mix of diverse people in the neighborhood.
Whats the most fun part of your job?
We get really off the wall requests when someone calls in, but they dont quite know what theyre looking for. You do the research and find out something interesting things. Sometimes we get these phone calls from people whore trying find someone and those are interesting.
Whats the most challenging part of your job?
Sometimes we have people who are having a bad day and its hard to be as helpful as wed like to be. We dont want people to be unhappy and we want to be helpful.
What is the one thing that many of the patrons who come here may not know about you?
Most of the patrons would not know that I have most of the Wizard of Oz committed to memory. I loved the movie as child and we had a neighbor who had the soundtrack, which had a lot of dialogue. I would listen to over and over again...I love doing Margaret Hamiltons lines.
