The fire, ruled accidental in a preliminary investigation by the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team, occurred  while patrons were dining in the middle of the afternoon, according to the report.

Nick Tsakonitis, who has owned the diner at 195 Route 6 for more than 35 years, told News 12 he thinks the fire will cost him around $100,000 in lost business and repair expenses.

The diner could open within a month, LoHud.com reported.
