Farr has proposed turning the playhouse space into something like the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville. The space is scheduled to become vacant when Bow Tie Cinema's lease expires at the end of the year.

The gathering is scheduled to be a meeting of Bedford's Community Organizations Committee (COC) and will be held at the Bedford Free Library.

David Gabrielson, who chairs the committee, wrote in an town email blast, "I hope you can join us at the COC meeting on the 13th to meet John Farr (for those of you who might not know him already!) and hear about the effort he's leading to turn the Bedford Playhouse into a not-for-profit arts house along the lines of the Jacob Burns in Pleasantville and the Avon in Stamford (which John co-founded a decade ago)."

Gabrielson added, "As you may know, the current tenant, Bowtie Cinemas, is not renewing their lease at year's end.  A change like this will definitely require a lot of support, so please, come and hear about this extraordinary opportunity."
