Con Ed: 80% of Our Customers Restored

Consolidated Edison says it's on track to restore most, if not all, of its customers who lost power during Saturday's freak pre-Halloween snowstorm, by Wednesday night.

As of 9 p.m. Monday evening, Con Ed says all but 28,000 of its customers had been restored. Approximately 129,000 customers lost power.

Spokesman Chris Olert says crews have been assisting from New York and Long Island as well as Virginia, Maryland , Tennessee and the Carolinas.

Large numbers of outages remain in Cortlandt, Greenburgh, New Castle, North Castle, Mount Pleasant, Yorktown and Yonkers.

Officials remind residents to be alert for downed power lines and never to go near them. Treat all downed lines as if they are live.

Report all downed wires to Con Edison and your local police department immediately.

If a power line falls on your car while you are in it, stay inside the vehicle and wait for emergency personnel.
