CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - - The owner of Whispering Pines is thankful for the community support received following a devastating fire to her flower shop's building.

Beth Hundgen, whose business has been in Chappaqua for about a decade, appreciated the help from the Chappaqua Moms Facebook group, calling the group “very supportive.”

Hundgen, whose previously space at 91 N. Bedford Road was damaged by the April 11 blaze, now has a temporary space in downtown Chappaqua. The storefront is at 83 S. Greeley Ave. and has been the store's new home since Friday, April 18. Hundgen also credited Chappaqua Moms with helping people find the store.

While inventory was lost due to the fire, several salvaged items were brought to the temporary location. They include a wooden mannequin named Anastasia, which has been displayed next to the front window. The lost inventory will be replaced. Hundgen faces several busy occasions, including Mother's Day, weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Although the damaged structure will be demolished, Hundgen would like to return to her previous site if the building is replaced.

The fire also destroyed several apartments in the building and displaced its residents, Daily Voice previously reported.
