Board Changes Bedford Building Inspection Fees

BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y. – The Bedford Town Board approved fee changes for inspections by its building department at Tuesday’s town board meeting. Charge adjustments include a $50 fee for installation of propane gas tanks, $175 for generator installation, and $50 fee for gas inspections. These changes were presented to the board by Steven Fraietta, town building inspector.

Also discussed at the meeting:

- It was announced that the American Jewish Committee selected the Town of Bedford for the Energy Independence Award, which will be given to the town on Oct. 24.

- The Village of Mount Kisco sent in a request for Bedford to install a 15 mph advisory sign at the north end of Byram Lake Road. The board explained the purpose of the installment is to tell drivers to slow down near where the lake meets the dirt road. The board said that slower speeds will limit the amount of gravel erosion in the lake, preserving the quality of Mount Kisco drinking water inhabiting the lake.

- According to the board, Richard Strongwater, of the Bedford Wetlands Control Commission, will be stepping down from his position after eight years on the board.
