Aiming to raise about $100,000 before the end of 2016, the nonprofit Playhouse and its supporters are trying to reach the $5.2 million mark to ensure ground can be broken on the construction phase of the project in early 2017, according to a recent email newsletter from the group.
The money is part of a greater $6 million campaign to fund the Playhouse's renovation – which includes the construction of three theaters and the creation of a promised “community hub, ” according to the campaign's organizers.
“This isn’t just about bringing back a movie theater. It’s about revitalizing an entire community, making the heart of Bedford beat with more excitement, more energy and more fun,” says a statement on the Playhouse’s donation website.
While gifts of any amount are welcome, those donating $5,000 or more will be added to a permanent Founding Donors Wall to be erected at the new theater, according to the website.
