Bedford, Mt. Kisco Ready for Holidays with Tree Lightings

The holiday season is upon the communities of Mount Kisco and Bedford, with the weekend holding several holiday tree lightings between the two towns and their villages. Mount Kisco and Bedford Village started off the weekend with both lightings held Friday night. Bedford Hills followed on Saturday and Katonah ended the festivities on Sunday.

On Friday, Mount Kisco celebrated its annual tree lighting, bringing together local residents and special attendants to the Village Hall. Special guest and fellow resident Rep. Nan Hayworth (R – District 19) was present, as well as Assembly member Robert Castelli (R,C – 89th District) and Mount Kisco Mayor J. Michael Cindrich.

“This is another one of the ways we can all come together and celebrate being with one another, and being in a town that is a great place to be in especially during the holiday season,” said Hayworth.

Just a few miles over from Mount Kisco, another tree lighting was kicking off the weekend on the Village Green in Bedford Village. Town Supervisor Lee V.A Roberts was in attendance and enjoyed the activities, including what the night represented for her hamlets.

“I think it’s absolutely beautiful, festive, so exciting to have the kids and choir here. It’s a wonderful evening,” Roberts said. “It proves what I knew, that it’s one of the best places in America. It’s a wonderful start to the holiday season.”

Resident and mother Jacqueline Lucchese agreed. “Every year it’s amazing. This is our sixth year. They get more special, because your children get older and they appreciate it more as well,” she said.

Luccese is a mother of two, and while her children might be enjoying the night for the flavor, each member understands the value of the lighting.

“They get together with friends with hot chocolate,” she said. “They love it, especially with marshmallows. But it’s all fun, it’s a tradition, and we all love it.”
