BEDFORD, N.Y. – More than 4,200 Bedford customers remained without power Sunday morning as thousands of out-of-state crews move into Westchester to pitch in with outage restoration.

An estimated 794 out of 1,018 Con Edison customers and 3,421 out of 6,657 New York State Energy and Gas customers were without power in Bedford at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

NYSEG reported the vast majority of its customers would have power restored by midnight Sunday, with remaining customers restored by midnight on Nov. 7.

Approximately 16,960 customers out of 32,524 total customers served by NYSEG in Westchester were out of power as of 6:30 a.m. Sunday, down from 25,425 Saturday morning.

NYSEG customers can go to the company’s website or call 1.800.572.1131 for local estimated times of restoration.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to restore power safely, and as quickly as possible,” said Mark Lynch, president, NYSEG and RG&E.  “We understand the frustration of being without electricity and are using all possible resources to hasten this process without sacrificing safety.”

As of Sunday morning, Con Edison reported approximately 88,060 of its 348,198 Westchester customers out of service.

Nearly 2,000 out-of-town crews are being deployed in New York City and Westchester County from various staging areas. An additional 400 crews were scheduled to arrive in Con Edison territory by Sunday. In Westchester, Mutual Aid Base Camps and staging areas have been established at Rye Playland in Rye and in FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights.

By Monday morning, Con Edison hopes to bring electricity to all schools and to all polling places for Tuesday. Those restorations are nearing 100 percent for accessible buildings, according to a release.

Customers can report downed power lines, outages, and check service restoration status by computer or mobile device at www.conEd.com. They also can call 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available, according to the release.
