Nine-year-old White Plains resident Emerson Daub has co-written "The Adventures of HyperKid: HyperKid v BullBorg," with his dad, Richard, as a way to bring to light the feelings many kids his age experience.

His book focuses on fourth grader Morgan Wallace who writes how embarrassing it is when the teacher calls on him and he has to ask her to repeat the question because he wasn't paying attention, or how hard it is because his handwriting is the sloppiest in the class, or the lonesome feeling he gets when he's pulled from class to go to group lessons that most of the other kids don't have to go to.

"It doesn't seem fair that I get punished because of it while the other kids are outside or in the gym having fun. It makes me feel stupid when this happens," Wallace's character says in the book.

Luckily, Wallace, upon visit to his pediatrician, soon finds out he has super hero powers, and makes it his mission to protect other kids from the playground bully Brian Bullini.

Bullini, it turns out, also turns out to be a cyborg which leads to some fun comic book like scenarios.

The two soon found out they have more in common than they realize. The message: you don't have to be a super hero to overcome life's difficulties.Nor should you judge others by what you see on the surface.

According to dad Richard, "The Adventures of HyperKid: HyperKid v BullBorg," a year in the making, covers a wide range of issues beyond hyperactivity including bullying, intolerance, loneliness, and pre-judgment of people, all done in a playful way youngsters can relate to.

The book, which came out June 1, is available on Amazon.com. It was published by Clay Road Press. Go to www.hyperkid.xyz/ for more information.
