To the editor:

Bedford's school board election is on May 19 this year. Your vote will help decide the direction of our school district. Recently, I attended a candidate's forum and was both inspired and impressed by Justine Marous.

As an attorney and mother who has offered countless volunteer hours in support of our students and schools, Marous is qualified in every respect. Meeting her in person, I was struck by her even temperament and thorough understanding of the role of the Board of Education, which is to set policy that provides the best possible education program at a cost the community can support. A Board of Education member must be willing to see the big picture with objectivity and not be influenced by personal issues. I believe these will be Marous’ greatest strengths as a board member.

As a teacher and school administrator with 30 years’ experience, I have come to know a few things about schools. Marous will use her substantial skills to help create a positive environment for our school community. She has my vote. Please consider giving her your vote on Tuesday, May 19.
