To the editor:

Regardless of its place on the calendar, the month of September is a time for new beginnings. We on the Board of Education welcome you to the 2015-16 school year, with all of its possibilities for renewed learning and student growth.

Bedford Central’s schools are a reflection of what we value as a community. Inside our walls, you will find professionals who excel at teaching, embrace technology and see the unique potential in every student.

Higher learning, creativity and rigor abound, complemented by languages, sports, the arts and extracurricular activities. By always looking ahead, we can prepare our students for the future and keep our district operationally and fiscally strong.

This year’s initiatives include addressing enrollment changes in our schools, as well as planning the district’s future leadership. Capital facilities improvements that align with our educational priorities are underway, as are positive changes in the area of special education – all within the framework of a multi-year vision for sustainable taxpayer investment.

Communication with the public is essential to our efforts, and we will reach out to you this school year through surveys, community forums and digital media.

Our goal is a community that is supported by, and supportive of, our public schools.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Gerken, President Edward Reder, Vice President Andrew Bracco Colette Dow Suzanne Grant Brian Sheerin Michael Solomon
