Katonah, NY-- On September 27th, the Katonah Village Library will get a taste of Puerto Rico. The best-selling author Esmeralda Santiago will be gracing the library with her literary talents for a book read of her latest novel, Conquistadora.
Santiago is on a tour for the book, and she will be reading in locations that include Atlanta, GA, Washington, DC, and New York City. But do not let her long travels make you think that Katonah is just another step on the ladder.
Not only is she a resident of Westchester County, Santiago has a connection with the library: the Katonah Village Library actually assisted her with her book. The proof can be found no further than the first page of her Acknowledgments section in the novel, as she thanks the librarians of the Katonah Village Library.
We actually got her some sources. People ask us on occasion and we have gotten them to the best of our abilities, says Pat Humphries, the Village Librarys reference librarian.
Van Kozelka, the director of the Katonah Village Library, is excited to have Santiago as a speaker.
She has been a very special friend to the Katonah library for a long time, and shes a wonderful presenter.
Humphries is also greatly anticipating the evening, especially for the story-telling aspect.
Its a very interesting book about a conquistadora, slavery, and Puerto Rico, Humphries explained. Shes been wonderful to us, and were going to have a very nice time with her here.
The book read will be at 7:30 PM on the 27th, and the library will offer books available to be signed.
