Ex-Bedford Historical Secretary Hayes Dies at 91

KATONAH, N.Y. - Longtime Katonah resident Mary E. Hayes died Feb. 18 at home. She was 91. 

Well known for talking walks throughout Katonah, Hayes was the former secretary for the Bedford Historical Society. 

She was born May 2, 1920 in Eustic, Fla. to the late Henry and Eleanor Miller. Hayes worked as a secretary for William A. Kelly, Inc. in Katonah until her retirement in 1990. An enthusiastic quilter, she was a member of the Nutmeg Quilting Society of Ridgefield, Conn. 

Surviving are her son Mickey (Lauren) Hayes, her daughter Lauren B. Jarmoszko of Montville, N.J., her brother Ralcey Miller, her sister Grace Emmons and four grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Bedford Union Cemetery in Bedford. Funeral arrangements are under Clark Associates Funeral Home.
