Edgar Vasquez, 62, Bedford Schools Employee

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Edgar "Ricardo" Vasquez, 62, died April 12, in Cortlandt Manor after a battle with cancer. 

Vasquez worked for the transportation department of the Bedford School District for the past nine years. 

He was born July 13, 1949, in Carchi Tulcan, Ecuador. After graduating from the Central University of Ecuador, Vasquez earned a medical doctorate from Javeriana University. In 1987, he moved to the United States with his family to start a new chapter in their lives. Vasquez was described by family as a 'kind-hearted man who won people over with his playful nature."

Vasquez is survived by his wife, Fanny; two sons, Richard (Linda) and Francisco; a daughter, Johanna; his mother, Maria Teresa Mendez; three sisters, Lillian, Maria Teresa and Maria Luisa Vasquez; four brothers, Gustavo, Patricio, Fernando and Pablo; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Ana Maria Vasquez. 

A Mass was held Monday at St. Christopher’s Church in Buchanan. Arrangements were made by Edward F. Carter Funeral Home.
