PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Dr. Antonio Rial, 80, of Peekskill, died Wednesday, April 18.
Rial was born March 22, 1932, in Spain, to Antonio and Carmen Rodriguez Rial. He was educated in Spain before completing his formal medical training and residency at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla.
On Jan. 15, 1966, he married Elva Forero in Florida. Rial began practicing internal medicine in Peekskill after his residency, retiring in the 1970s. He then became an attending physician at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility until October of 2011. Rial enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Elva Rial, of Peekskill; a daughter, Marta Pedersen and her husband, Dr. Thomas Pedersen, of Concord, N.H.; two sons, Antonio Rial Jr. and his wife, Victoria, of Peekskill, and James Rial and his wife, Jeannie, of Lewes, Del.; two brothers, Alberto Rial and Jose Luis Rial, both of Spain; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Columbanus Church in Cortlandt Manor. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, N.Y.
