BEDFORD, N.Y. — You may have seen Chazz Palminteri as a mobster in "A Bronx Tale" or a U.S. customs agent in "The Usual Suspects," but if you're a Bedford resident, there would be nothing unusual about seeing the actor and writer enjoying dinner at the Bedford Post Inn.

Palminteri has lived in Bedford for 13 years. Though he's slated to have four movies debuting in 2013, his next performance will be a local one, where he will answer questions about the film industry at Elmsford's Westchester Broadway Theatre on Oct. 29.

The Bronx native shared his favorite things about living in Bedford with The Bedford Daily Voice, including a range of local restaurants and the weather. Here are his top five favorites:

1) It's no Bronx

Palminteri said he loves Bedford's rolling hills and natural landscape. "I love the aesthetics of it. It's so beautiful," he said.

2) Food for thought

The local restaurants hit the spot when Palminteri is looking for a bite to eat, he said. He often dines at Meetinghouse and Lexington Square Cafe, but one of his favorites is The Bedford Post Inn, owned by fellow actor Richard Gere. "I like that one very much," Palminteri said.

3) New York's Hollywood

"The people here are great. Nobody bothers you; there are lots of other celebrities. Everyone treats you normal."

4) History and nostalgia

Bedford's historic look always takes Palminteri back in time. "The stone walls in the rolling hills — it makes me think of many, many years ago," he said.

5) Seasonal taste

From the reds and oranges in Bedford's trees to the snow-capped roofs in the village, Palminteri loves how the weather changes Bedford. "I love the way Bedford looks when it snows," he said.
